Viña del Mar, Valparaiso Chile: HIGH ALERT WILDFIRE, homes destroyed, evacuations

rpp.com.pe reported that the Chilean cities of Viña del Mar and Valparaiso have been put on high alert because of a wildfire that has destroyed thirty homes and forced the evacuation of hundred people, officials said. The incident, in which hard working extinguishing fire, police and forestry workers, began in a high area known as Rodelillo sector in Valparaiso, and forced to cut Route 68 linking this area with Santiago Chilean central coast. “The situation is dramatic, we have a state of the time, a high degree of heat, a fairly strong wind, and various sources” told the website Emol Jorge Castro, mayor of Valparaíso, which is World Heritage Site.
