U.S. Border Patrol unveils new strategy along U.S./Mexico border

The U.S. Border Patrol on Tuesday unveiled its new national strategy, the first in eight years, during which their agents more than doubled and arrests of people entering illegally from Mexico fell to their lowest level in four decades.

The new plan, outlined in a 32-page document whose preparation took more than two years has specialized terms like “risk based” and “based on intelligence information” to describe a more nuanced and specific reaction to threats continuously evolving.

In its previous strategy, the Border Patrol agents had placed many in heavily traveled corridors of illegal immigrants, to force them to scroll through more remote areas where supposed to be easier to catch and discourage them from reoffending.

“The point for me is that at least is a sound strategy,” he told The Associated Press director of force, Mike Fisher. Read Article
