Trail begins Chile for 8 accused in failed tsunami warning 2010

The Chilean courts began today a lawsuit against eight people, including Patrick Rosende exsubsecretario Interior and former director of the National Emergency Office, Carmen Fernandez for the failed tsunami warning that the February 27, 2010 caused 156 deaths and 25 missing .

The Seventh Court of Guarantee of Santiago opened a formal indictment (charging) of those involved, who the prosecutor accuses Solange Huerta had not alerted the public about the tsunami that was triggered by the 8.8 magnitude earthquake occurred this morning in the southern country. Read Article

Prosecution sources said the hearing could last for three days while lawyers for the families of the victims said they will be asked to remand the accused.
