Three thousand gay marriages in Argentina, one year after legalization

A year after Argentina legalized gay marriage, the Argentine Federation of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender reports that there have been almost 3 thousand gay marriages, 60% of them between men, and the majority occurring in Buenos Aires, per sdpnoticias.com. Congress passed the law on July 15, 2010, with 33 votes in favor, 27 against and 3 abstentions making Argentina the 15th country in the world to legalize same-sex marriages. Gay organizations in the country have acknowledged the progress made since last year, but still face discrimination and issues with their children having the surname of both parents.
