Son of “El Chapo” captured in Zapopan, Mexico; Sinaloa Cartel takes hit

The son of  Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, leader of the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico, was caught in the Colonia Jardines de la Patria neighborhood of Zapopan, Jalisco. Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, alias “El Gordo,” was arrested by special marine forces on June 21, 2012. El Gordo had been gaining increasing strength and power within the Sinaloa Cartel, El Informador reports. He was responsible for most of the drugs sent from Mexico to the United States. He also managed his father’s assets. The arrest occurred after joint intelligence work carried out by Mexican and U.S. officials. Kevin Daniel Beltran Rios (19), was also arrested. Read Article
