São Paulo, Brazil, Declared 2nd Most Expensive City to Own a Car

On April 4, 2013, O Estado de São Paulo reported that a recent study done by The Economist shows São Paulo to be the 2nd most expensive metropolis in the world to own a car.  In the research, The Economist selected 14 metropoli.  São Paulo was second to Shanghai, China.  The study considered first the price of vehicles, and then it looked at how much money it costs to maintain a car in each case.  In São Paulo, it costs nearly three times as much to purchase a car, for example, as it does in Tokyo.  It also factored in to a lesser extent the price of fuel and family incomes.  Read Article
