Sao Paulo, Brazil: Bomb discovered on site where Pope is expected to visit

Globo reported on July 22, 2013 that security forces (including the Air Force) prepared for the visit of Pope Francisco, discovered a bomb inside a bathroom at the Santuário Nacional in Aparecida, Sao Paulo. The bomb, wrapped in plastic tape, is considered to have a “low potential for harm”. In preparation of the Pope’s visit to the country, thousands of police and security officials, including the Federal Highway Police, will work to protect the safety and transportation of the Pope during his stay.
