Santa Maria, Peru: Young Brazilian Drowned In Peruvian Ocean

According to Peru21.pe a Brazilian seminarian, Joao Carlos Junior, 17 years old drowned in ocean off Santa Maria beach this past Friday, July 29th. Junior was part of a group of seminaries from the Order of the Sodality of Apostolic Life who were vacationing in Peru and planning to go to Cusco. Peruvian police say the young man strayed to far from the shore and was overcome by the strong waves. They add Junior was with eight friends, who tried to save him. Agents from the Lifesaving Unit of Police have initiated a search for Junior’s body. Police have not contacted the young man’s parents, but they are expected to arrive in Peru in the following days.Read Article
