Santa Ana, El Salvador: 3 Children Rescued from Suspected Human Traffickers

On August 28, 2013 La Página Noticias reported the rescue of three children during a police raid on the home of a couple in Santa Ana. As a result, police are now investigation two suspects, a Mexican male and his Salvadoran female partner, on suspicion of human trafficking. Although one of the rescued girls belonged to another Salvadoran woman residing in the home, neither suspect was able to prove that the other two children belonged to them as they had previously claimed. Although the investigation is ongoing, prosecutor Esmirna de Calles stated the evidence so far points to this being a clear case of human trafficking and that the couple intended to traffic the children out of the country.
