Salta, Argentina: Legislators Seek Resignation of Mayor Involved in Human Trafficking Case

On August 16, 2013 Poder Local Noticias reported that several provincial legislators are seeking the resignation of the mayor of the town of Salvador Mazza, Carlos Villalba, who is caught up in a local human trafficking case. The president of the House of Representatives, Manuel Santiago, requested the mayor to submit his resignation after he was arrested at a brothel during one of seven anti-trafficking raids conducted yesterday by the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP). It was later reported that following his arrest, Mayor Carlos Villalba provided a “series of bizarre explanations” concerning what had transpired. Read Article
