Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: Scientists Propose Agenda to Decriminalize Drug Use

ebc.com.br reported on May 21, 2013 that Brazilian scientists presented an agenda to Viva Rio; a non-governmental organization, to decriminalize the use of drugs as well as adopt more open-minded policies towards drug users. This agenda is an attempt to reform drug laws and will be presented to Congress. An issue with the current drug legislation is the unclear distinction between recreational users and drug dealers. In addition, scientists claim drug use is a health issue and not an issue for the police.
