Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Launches Campaign against Sexual Abuse of Minors

On February 6, 2013, O Dia reported that the Vice-Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, together with the head of the Human Rights Department of the federal government, is launching a campaign in time for Rio’s annual Carnaval celebration targeted at speaking up against sexual exploitation of minors and adolescents.  The ceremony will feature various artistic displays and educational materials, and the materials will also be distributed during the actual event, posted throughout the parade routes and party centers.  Those who see sexual abuse are asked to dial 100, the hotline for reporting such crime to the federal Human Rights Department.  Read Article
