Remittances to Latin America stagnate for 2013, 61 billion dollars

bvibeacon.com reported the amount of money being sent home to Latin America and the Caribbean from migrants outside the region stayed about the same in 2013 compared to 2012, a recent study has found. While the remittance flows are still below their 2008 highs, further growth is expected in 2014, according to the Inter-American Development Bank. In an annual study, “Remittances to Latin America and the Caribbean in 2013,” IADB researchers estimated that Latin America and the Caribbean received $61.25 billion in remittance flows in 2013, compared to $64.8 billion in 2012.
