Relations between Colombia and Ecuador (essay)

This essay seeks to analyse the development of relations between Colombia and Ecuador from the perspective of space, borders and armed conflicts. For this purpose, this paper resorts to historical elements, including references to the formation of the first armed organizations and its impact on the development of the Colombian State and its relationship with neighbouring countries, which is due largely to the persistence in Colombia of a model of territorial fragmentation inherited from the pre-Columbian and viceregal periods which in recent decades has been transformed into a type of armed conflict or civil war as the result of disputes for political control and distribution of land, several of which are characterized by their notable strategic value to convert
