Rancagua, Chile: PDI Dismantled Local Drug Trafficking Ring

From Terra on August 1, 2013- Agents of Chile’s PDI successfully dismantled a drug ring that was operating in the capital of the O’Higgins region. The investigation lasted for several months prior to the arrests, following the activities of a man known as “El Guatón Carlos” and his wife known as “La Mary.” The couple was involved with the trade of marijuana, cocaine, and cocaine base in the town of Rancagua and operated with a home delivery system to avoid suspicion. Police monitored this distribution system and succeeded in identifying the group. Realizing that they were being followed by police, the traffickers attempted to escape but ended up hitting a police cruiser and were caught by the authorities. The police inspected the car and found marijuana, cocaine, cocaine base, and cash. Authorities then proceeded to the home of the accused and seized almost 2 kilos of drugs, a scale, gun blanks, a safe, jewelry and 209 thousand pesos in cash. In total, four suspects were detained.
