Puno, Peru: 48 Children Die of Pneumonia Due to Low Temperatures

According to RPP.com.pe young children, under the age of 5 are dying due to low temperatures in the Puno region. The director of the Office of Epidemiology of the Regional Health Office in Puno says in the 30th week they have recorded 48 deaths of children 5 years old and younger. Reportedly, Juliaca has the highest number of reported deaths at 11. RPP reports last year the number of deaths recorded in the Puno region, for the same time period, stood at 71. Furthermore, for the year-to-date 988 children have been treated for pneumonia and 819 for dysentery diseases in the Puno region.Read Article
