Ponta Pora, Brazil: Drug Traffickers Detained for Smuggling Cocaine

Globo reported on July 3, 2013 that the Civil Police in Ponta Pora, Mato Grosso do Sul, detained three suspects part of gang led by the largest drug dealer in the Federal District of Brasilia. The suspects are accused of receiving and transporting cocaine from other countries such as Bolivia, Colombia, and Paraguay to the Federal District. Drugs were kept in a warehouse located along the Brazil-Paraguay border in which truck drivers were hired to transport the cocaine. The investigation lasted 15 months and the suspects face up to 25 years of imprisonment. Read Article
