Police Report 60 People Arrested Per Day in Pará, Brazil

On January 23, 2013, Diário do Pará reported that numbers published yesterday by local civil police in the Brazilian state of Pará revealed that sixty people were arrested per day in 2012.  In total, the civil police made nearly 22,000 arrests.  This number represents a 15.5% rise in arrests relative to 2011.  Close to 30% of those arrests, the police reported, came from those arrested on drug trafficking charges.  Read Article
