What was described as the most important drug discovery in the history of Chubut, Argentina occurred during a raid on June 6, 2012. Almost 40 kilos of marijuana were found buried on the property of a former pork butcher shop, El Patagónico reports. Four defendants have been identified in the case, including one individual suspected of marketing the drugs, who remains in prison. The other three include two family members and a friend of the primary suspect. The investigations leading to the discovery had been ongoing since November 2011. The site of the discovery is thought to be a deposit area for the drug, where it would be packed and stored until ready to be sold. Three other homes were searched on the 12 de Octubre street in the San Martín neighborhood. Cell phones, scales, a large sum of cash, and other evidence were gathered and seized during the operation.
