Peru: sexual offenses third leading cause of imprisonment

Rape, sexual abuse and similar figures that constitute as sexual offenses are the third leading cause of prison in the country and comprise 20% of inmates in a final judgment, according to the head of the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE), José Luis Guadalupe Perez .

Also explained that 35% of prisoners were sentenced to actual conviction for crimes against property, while 25% are people who committed crimes of drug trafficking or drug trafficking. Fourth is the homicide or murder with 6.7% of sentences. In total there are approximately 60,000 inmates. Read Article
