Peru is largest producer of pure cocaine

Peru is at a critical time in their fight against drug trafficking to overcome for the first time in a decade in Colombia, which became the leading producer of pure cocaine, U.S. officials said at a legislative hearing in Washington. Appearing before the committee for the international drug control in the U.S. Senate, the intelligence chief of the U.S. Anti-Drug Directorate (DEA), Rodney Benson, attributed the increase in potential cocaine production in Peru, came to 325 metric tons- the control that Sendero Luminoso has over 45% of coca cultivation and the growing presence of Mexican cartels notable.
