Peru develops new strategy in combating mafias involved in illegal mining

The Peruvian government draws a new strategy to control the gangs who run the illegal mining in the country and would have for the job with financial support from the IDB and the governments of Norway and the U.S., said Monday Environment Minister Manuel Pulgar .

“There is interest from the IDB, the government of Norway and the U.S. government to establish a fund, which is estimated to be around 100 to 150 million, and will be used to control illegal mining,” the official said in a press conference with foreign media in Lima. Read Article
