Peru: 100 kilos of cocaine seized on the Pan-American Highway.

On May 14, 2013, El Comercio reported that some 93 kilos and 800 grams of alkaloid cocaine were seized by authorities from Chicalayo while the drugs were being transported by truck from the highlands of La Libertad to the city of Lambayeque. Roger Vera Sandoval drove the truck and he was accompanied by Rómulo Vera Sandoval and Mauro Vera Baca. Prosecutor Héctor Terrones Zuñiga of the District Attorney’s office specializing in illicit drug trafficking crimes in Lambayeque was present during the seizure. The arrest happened at 9:00 pm at a Sutrán checkpoint located at kilometer 740 of the North Pan-American Highway, Mocupe district, Chiclayo province.
