Pará, Brazil: Woman Detained for Sex Trafficking Activity

Globo reported that a woman was detained in Passo Fundo, Rio Grande do Sul for sex trafficking young people in Altamira and Vitoria do Xingu, Pará. The woman owned a nightclub in which she promised victims up to R$1,000 for work. The victims were locked inside bedrooms. According to police, the woman has been a fugitive since February of this year. In total, the police rescued 17 women and a transvestite. Police learned about the criminal activity after a 16-year old victim was able to escape. Read Article
