Since in Iquitos are suffering the ravages of rising higher in the rivers of the past 25 years, have already reached some of the predictable consequences such as the outbreak of leptospirosis that we are suffering.
It is important to call attention to this issue because in the context of the whole people are concerned about dengue and the authorities are not concentrated in the fumigation is being given the necessary attention. Doctors at the health posts and centers in the region of course continue to see any fever with thrombocytopenia as probable dengue (not bad) and this is delaying the suspected cases of leptospirosis that are coming to hospitals severe (but be alert, there is no timely suspect)

Hospitals: Only in the Regional Hospital of Loreto so far this year, we have treated 5 cases of severe pulmonary leptospirosis (with pulmonary hemorrhage) that were recovered in the ICU, a fatal case probably derived from a private clinic and waiting for definitive diagnosis a current case that is in critical condition in ICU-HRL (22/04/2012). Also today it died with a diagnosis of Severe Leptospirosis and renal failure from a man with Sx Nauta-Febrile icterus (confirmed by PCR), in addition to 2 cases hospitalized with Lung Injury young men who are stable thanks to the suspicion and attention timely.
According to information of HAI infectious disease colleagues have a similar case and a case that Yurimaguas to Tarapoto attended with acute renal failure who recovered successfully. Read Article
