Military commanders Peru, Colombia, Ecuador reach accord to fight crime

andina.com.pe/Senior military commanders from Peru, Colombia and Ecuador have agreed to strengthen the fight against organized crime in the region, the Peruvian military said Friday. During a four-day meeting in the northeastern Peruvian region of Loreto, military chiefs of the three countries discussed a variety of issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation, the Armed Forces Joint Command said in a statement. They agreed to forge a joint crime-fighting strategy, which takes into account cultural idiosyncracies and self-determination of indigenous communities, and maintain security and stability along their countries’ shared borders, the statement said.
