Mexico, murders of youth as result of drug war alarming

murder became the leading cause of death among the country between 2007 and 2009, a trend that overtook the car accident that for years were the leading cause of deaths in this population group, according to figures released by the violent deaths National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). Between 2007 and 2009 the murder of teenagers between 15 and 19 years increased 124 percent, that of young people aged 20 to 24 years, 156 percent, and 25 to 29 years, 152 percent.
