Mexico: Man Arrested for Impersonating a Police Officer

Members of the Municipal Police in Oaxaca arrested Francisco Sánchez Vallejo, 48, for impersonating a police officer to public transportation bus drivers, Diario Oaxaca reports. A call to the C-4 system alerted police to a man dressed in an officer’s uniform attempting to extort bus drivers. At the time of his arrest, Sánchez was carrying a bag containing a shirt with officer’s insignia, a can of pepper spray, a toy pistol, a cartridge belt, a hat with police emblems, handcuffs and insignias of a police commander and a police chief. He also had false badges from two different police organizations. Prior to this arrest, Sánchez was arrested in 2010 for making death threats against a taxi driver and passengers while impersonating an officer. Read Article
