Mexico: 651 drug plantations found in July 2012

In July 2012, 157 poppy crop fields, 494 marijuana fields, and 59,489 total hectares of these drugs were found in the states of Sinaloa and Durango in Mexico. Five clandestine factories used for the production of synthetic drugs were also discovered during this time period. According to Periodico Correo, officials seized 113 rifles, 112 handguns, 55 vehicles, two wheelers, eight motorcycles, and 1,642,900 pesos during anti-narcotics operations. Read Article
