Jambeli, Ecuador: Island Without Electricity After Ocean Storm

According to ElComercio.com an ocean storm that produced forceful waves left the island of Jambeli, in the canton of Santa Rose, without electricity around 3 a.m. today, Wednesday August 3rd. Officials say 21 electricity poles fell due to erosion and harsh ocean conditions from the storm. Personnel from the National Corporation of Electric Energy (CNEL) of El Oro are working to reinstall service to the effected areas. An official from the Public Works Department of the Santa Rosa municipality says they hope electricity will return around 4 p.m. today.Read Article
