Internet Hacker Gang Arrested in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

On January 20, 2013, O Globo reported that police arrested a gang of middle-class university students responsible for the diversion of over $2 million over the past two years.  The gang defrauded bank accounts, moving funds to accounts of friends and family.  The money was then withdrawn immediately, to avoid suspicion.  The group was charged with robbery, gang activity and drug possession.  Two of the four gang members are still at large, after the group gained writ of habeas corpus.  The other two were recaptured and are being held at delegations in Barra Mansa and Pinheiral.  Read Article
