Inter-Department Police Effort in Bahia, Brazil, Seizes 1.3 Tons of Marijuana

On February 20, 2013, NE10 reported that a joint effort between civil and state police in the state of Bahia resulted in the seizure of over one ton of marijuana, which would have been dealt in Salvador, the capital.  Five people were arrested during the three-day operation.  Part of the drugs were found in a rural area around Conceição de Coité, about 235 km north of the capital.  There two of the five were arrested as well, and police seized a revolver, two shotguns, a car and a motorcycle.  Police will continue the investigation to find out the origin of the drugs, as well as the owner of the farm where the drugs were hidden.  Read Article
