Honduras with highest rate of femicide in Central America

For a staggering that every 16 hours a woman dies violently, the UN Women organization yesterday began an awareness campaign called “16 days of activism against gender violence against women” in Honduras. “Every 16 hours a woman is dying and the perpetrators remain unpunished,” explained the coordinator of UN Women, Rossibel Gomez at the launch of the campaign “Give peace a 16”. A group of female exponents staged a work condemning femicide at the launch of the awareness campaign called “16 days of activism against gender violence against women” in Honduras. The expert said the country femicide remains in first place of femicide in Central America, because so far this year there have been more than 450 violent deaths of women and with respect to the statistics from previous years, figures surpass those of 2011.
