Honduran Consul General in Phoenix Arizona continues in position after investigation

Elheraldo.hn, reported that the Consul General for the Honduran consulate in Phoenix, Arizona, Astrid Kamper Gaborit , remains in office, after an investigation. The results indicated that she used Honduran public funds for automobile payments. These payments according to the article were made between January 2011 and March 2012, to a car dealer in Phoenix, Arizona. Elheraldo.hn explained in their report that these funds were for the operation of the consulate and diplomatic purposes.

elheraldo.hn phoned the Honduran consulate in Phoenix, and was told by an unnamed person answering the phone, that the Consul was not in the office and that she was still serving in her diplomatic capacity and conducting business of the consulate normally.

Elheraldo.hn was informed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeking clarification of the matter, that it had been investigated and that she remains in in office.

Elheraldo.hn, then contacted Juan Carlos Berganza who is in charge of the legal unit at (ANC) National Anti-Corruption Council, stated that Public Ministry to investigate the Consul for misappropriation of public funds and calling for a special prosecutor. Read Article from elheraldo.hm
