Guatemala extends mandate of commission against impunity

CICIG was conducted almost three years by the Spanish judge Carlos Castresana, who resigned on June 7, 2010 after reporting that it was “systematically targeted by groups who want to stay in power.”
Guatemalan President Otto Perez announced it will extend by two years the mandate of the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG), an entity created by the UN to strengthen justice, infiltrated by organized crime. Read Article
