Grave of 10 U.S. Soldiers from Mexican-American War found in Monterrey, Mexico

Mexican archaeologists have found a grave in Monterrey containing ten skeletons they believe to be U.S. soldiers from the Mexican-American War, SDP Noticias reports. The height of the skeletons and the shape of the skulls exhibit Caucasian characteristics, supporting the hypothesis that the soldiers fought for the United States. They are believed to have died during the Battle of Monterrey, fought September 21-23, 1846. Though the National Institute of Anthropology and History shows that 25 Mexicans and 30 Americans died in the battle, no remains of Mexican soldiers have yet been discovered. Read Article
