From lainformacion.com on August 9, 2013- The Ecuadorian Navy seized 537 kilos of cocaine and arrested three people aboard a small motorboat in the northern waters of the Galapagos. The seizure was the result of coordinated efforts between the Ecuadorian Coast Guard Command and the U.S. Coast Guard. The boat was found 192 miles of the northwest coast of San Cristobal Island, about 1,000 kilometers west of the mainland. The drugs were hidden in the fuel tanks of the boat named “Santa Maria,” although the boat sailed with no flag or legal documents, authorities have determined that the boat originated in the port city of Esmeraldas. Authorities believe the boat was bound for a Central American country and possibly had the help of another, larger vessel. Read Article
