Former Expat in Ecuador pleads guilty to Assault Charges in U.S., sentenced to prison

North Carolina: morganton.com – A Connelly Springs man who spent two years in Ecuador after firing a weapon into a Burke County home could spend up to 11 years in prison.

Dean Allan Yancey, 63, pleaded guilty last week to two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and two counts of discharging a weapon into occupied premises, according to a press release from the District Attorney’s Office.

The attempted shooting happened May 1, 2013, at Yancey’s brother’s home on Rhoney Road in Connelly Springs, the release said. Judge Robert C. Ervin issued a sentence of seven to 11 years in prison during Burke County Superior Court on Oct. 30 after Yancey pleaded guilty, the release said. Read Article
