Eight drug dealers caught in colonial zone of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Eight individuals were taken into custody on June 25, 2012 after officials caught them with hundreds of doses of cocaine, crack, marijuana, and narcotics ready to sell. According to Diario Lider, this was not the first report of drug marketing reported in the colonial zone of Santo Domingo, but officials had increased surveillance and intelligence efforts before the operation. Police were responding to a complaint filed by a Catholic church in the area, specifically from Cardinal Nicolás de Jesús López Rodríguez.
