Ecuador’s foreign and domestic policies are guided by our national values and interests, not games. That is how we reached all of our Millennium Development Goals and from 2007 to 2015, reduced poverty to 25.5 percent from 37.6 percent; extreme poverty to 8.6 percent from 16.9 percent; and unemployment to 3.8 percent from 5 percent.

Over the same period, gross domestic product doubled, G.D.P. per capita grew 50 percent, tax collection tripled without raising taxes, and investment in education increased to 2.1 percent of G.D.P., the highest in the region. Read Full Opinion
