Ecuadorian Navy Finds Eight Tourists Missing At Sea

According to ElComercio.com the Ecuadorian Navy Coast Guard Directorate of Esmeraldas found eight tourists who remained missing at sea since Sunday, August 14th. Officials say the navy found the tourist group at 8 a.m. today. The group departed from Atacames at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday for a whale watching tour in a fiberglass boat. Officials say six people where foreign tourists and two were part of the boat crew. The group was found adrift eight miles off the coast of Esmeraldas out of fuel and experiencing mechanical failures, authorities say. Officials from the coast guard say the boat was unable to return to the beach but should not have been out at sea due to the government order issued due to strong seas and large waves. The tourists were returned safety to their hotels.Read Article
