Ecuador to receive 10,000 archeological pieces from Italy

telesurtv.net reported 3,858 archeological pieces and a bit more than 1,000 copies will arrive in Ecuador from Italy in mid-November. Sebastián González, head of the Technical Commission Against Illegal Trade of Goods, informed that before December they expect to have recovered at least 10,000 ransacked archeological treasures. To accomplish the 10,000 goal, the Ecuadorian government is waiting for a shipload of 4,858 pieces sent from Italy. The pieces were sent by ship from Genoa and are expected to arrive in Guayaquil city by mid November. Ecuador ambassador in Italy, Juan Holguín Flores, said that, “So far this year, the Italian government is about to hand back to Ecuador thousands of pre-Columbian pieces recovered from the illegal trading cases known as Pavesi, Baronetto and Aduana.” Read Article
