Ecuador: to date this winter 12 dead and 1200 homeless due to weather

diarioopinion.com reported so far this winter season kills 12 and 1 293 victims in nine of the 24 provinces of Ecuador. As reported by the Department of Risk Management (SNGR) at least 724 homes have been destroyed. As part of the winter season, the Ministry of Health (MOH) is taking action to confront an outbreak of dengue fever that has left one dead in the province of Guayas (Center West) and 103 cases have been treated.
The MSP implemented a sectoral plan that includes immediate medical attention, mingas cleaning, proper handling of waste, among others. The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMHI) reported that Azuay (Sierra south) and Loja (border with Peru) are most affected by the storm. In 2011, the winter season left 32 dead.
