Ecuador submarine to go through modernization process in Chile

The B.A.E. “Huancavilca” will undergo modernization.

Under a contract signed in January 2008 between the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Ecuador and Shipyards and Arsenals of the Army, Asmara, on 15 November Industrial Plant arrived in Asmara in Talcahuano, the Navy submarine BAE Ecuadorian “Huancavilca”, the second of two class submarines U-209, will undergo a modernization path, similar to what is taking place since 2009 to BAE “Shiri”, and already made by the Shipyard to the same class submarines of the Navy of Chile.
