According to Expreso.ec six robbers of bank customers were arrested on Friday June 10th. Also, a taxi driver was detained in connection with a criminal gang that stole USD 2,000 from a customer at a bank. The customer chased the assailants, as did a policeman on a motorcycle as the gang got away in a Kia Rio. Later, the Guayas police located the owner of the car and subsequently captured the suspect. As crimes of bank customers increase, the police chief of Guayas Province has instituted the formation of a task force to combat robberies of bank customers. One official and eight special officers will be assigned to the eight official districts of Guayas. The increase of officers has prevented at least one robbery when the robbers noticed the police presence near the bank location and fled. All the suspects were apprehended and weapons were found.Read Article
