Ecuador: President Correa states cyber attacks against govt. originated from Colombia

telesurtv.net reported the Ecuadoran President announces cyber attacks against his government originated in Colombia.

At a meeting with representatives from various media outlets on Thursday, President Rafael Correa revealed that the hacks which have targeted members and institutions of his government were of Colombian origin.

The cyber attacks “originated from Colombia, this is the work of organized networks and is something systematic,” said Correa to the media. He did not elaborate on details regarding the networks.

President Correa indicated that the hackers were principally concerned with extracting information from the presidency, Armed Forces and Joint Command. He said that the government is working to protect their servers, and have taken steps to use only encrypted forms of communication to prevent espionage. Read Article
