Ecuador: opponents of Rafael Correa in congress prevent approval of tax reform

Ecuador’s President Rafael Correa on Thursday suffered a setback in his political project after opponents in Congress would prevent approval of a tax reform that includes the rise of some taxes to ensure increased revenue. The opposition succeeded, with the support of 53 of the 101 deputies present, giving the green light to a resolution that the proposal is filed Correa. The ruling party assured its not possible to talk about adoption because they failed to have enough votes to rescind the regulations. Read Article
