Ecuador: Minister of Foreign Trade demoted

aimdigital.com.ar reported Diego Aulestia today was named Minister of Foreign Trade of Ecuador, replacing Francisco Rivadeneira, according to reports from the website of the Presidency of the Republic. The institution said it also was named Maria de los Angeles Duarte as head of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing.

By Executive Decree refusals to the posts of ministers of Foreign Trade and Urban Development and Housing, which until last February 18 were conducted by Francisco Rivadeneira and Diego Aulestia, respectively were accepted.

The day before, the then Minister of Foreign Trade announced via his Facebook account that was still part of the government led by President Rafael Correa.

The official did not provide any explanation as to why he was demoted. He did state he wanted to use the space to publicly thank Correa for giving him the opportunity to serve his country and his people. Read Article
