Ecuador: Military seize weapons, drugs, coca plants in border region with Colombia

Elcomercio.com reported that the operations were performed between Esmeraldas and Sucumbios. In the last 10 days, the military seized from drug to fuel, firearms and explosives in those border areas. Even the soldiers found a field of four acres with about 8500 coca plants. In this last operation soldiers intervened three detachments. It happened last Friday in the parish Jambelí in Sucumbios. “The coca plants were sown as directed, organized and hidden in the dense vegetation of the region,” said Ecuadorian Army in a statement yesterday.
