Ecuador, Government declares emergency in five provinces because of drought

The provinces of Loja, Los Rios, Guayas, Manabi and El Oro, were declared emergency due to lack of rain since February. The Ministry of Agriculture, along with the secretariats of Risk Management and Water within a Contingency Plan, adopted new preventive measures in those provinces. This is because, according to forecasts from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMHI) – not climate change that situation during the month of April, however, there is less rainfall in the country.
